1. Health insurance abroad:
A ship voyage or cruise usually involves travel to destinations abroad - especially for a world tour. This also involves the corresponding risks to which you are exposed in different countries. So it may well come to the case of illness, be it due to an infection, or other problems on the way. In case of treatment on board, directly at a local travel destination or also in case of a possibly necessary return transport to the home country, high costs can then arise.
Through the statutory health insurance you are only partially insured abroad, depending on which country you travel to. You can find more detailed information on this in our guide to private travel health insurance. Even international health insurance included with credit cards usually does not include ship voyages/cruises.
Our private international health insurance abroad covers the costs of medical treatment due to illness or an accident abroad and also covers other benefits.
