Annual travel cancellation insurance
All-year cover with travel assistance

• It is best to take out insurance when you book your trip.
• If there are more than 30 days between booking and the start of the trip, it is sufficient to take out the policy no later than 30 days before departure.
• If there are less than 30 days between booking and departure, the contract must be concluded on the day of booking or within 3 working days thereafter.

Annual travel cancellation insurance covers any number of trips per year - up to 45 days in each case.

• For longer trips, the insurance cover ends after the first 45 days.
• Exception: Travel Cancellation Insurance provides cover regardless of the duration of the trip up to the start of the trip.
• In the case of trip interruption insurance, cover applies for the entire trip, but for a maximum of one year

The insurance cover applies worldwide - for all trips, including day trips, up to a maximum of 45 days.

• For trips in the home country: only trips with a distance of more than 50 km from the place of residence or with at least one overnight stay are insured.
• For trips in the country of work: also only if the distance is more than 50 km or an overnight stay is involved.
• The followingdo not count as travel: professional field work and journeys between home and place of work

The insurance covers all private trips worldwide, including day trips, up to a maximum of 45 days.

• This includes package tours, individual trips, hotel stays, vacation apartments, cruises, air, rail, bus or car trips.
• Not insured are
  • professional field service activities
  • Trips between home and place of work

The annual travel cancellation insurance runs indefinitely with a fixed term of 12 months (insurance year).

• The contract is automatically extended for a further year if it is not terminated.
• It can be terminated annually with one month's notice to the end of the insurance year.
• In the event of special circumstances (e.g. following a claim or a premium increase due to reaching an age limit), there is a special right of termination

• Couple: two adults, regardless of relationship.
• Family: a maximum of two adults (regardless of relationship) and children up to and including the age of 25.
  • Children can be your own children, grandchildren and up to five other children traveling with you.
  • A joint place of residence is not required.
• All insured persons must be listed by name in the contract.
• The travel price in the family tariff is the total travel price of the family/couple

We require the following evidence so that your claim can be processed quickly:

• Always required:
  • Proof of insurance (policy/certificate)
  • Booking documents (e.g. confirmation from the tour operator)
  • Cancellation invoice or cancellation invoice from the organizer/rental company
  • Fully completed claim form
• Depending on the claim additionally:
  • In the event of illness/accident/pregnancy/vaccination intolerance: medical certificate with diagnosis and treatment data
  • In the event of mental illness: proof of outpatient psychotherapy, certificate from a specialist in psychiatry or proof of inpatient treatment
  • In the event of theft or accident: copy of the police report
  • For other events (e.g. damage to property, dismissal, court summons): appropriate official or contractual evidence

Note: The costs of certificates will not be reimbursed. All documents must be submitted immediately.

Annual travel cancellation insurance not only covers you, but also certain persons at risk. These include your relatives (e.g. partner, children, parents, grandparents), caregivers and - depending on the tariff - fellow travelers. If one of these persons falls ill, has an accident or dies, you can also cancel and receive reimbursement of the costs.

Annual travel cancellation insurance not only protects you in the event of cancellation, but also in the event of rebooking. If rebooking fees are incurred, these are covered up to the amount of the regular cancellation costs. If the rebooked trip cannot be taken after all, the cancellation costs of the originally booked trip are also covered - less any rebooking fees already reimbursed.

Yes, certain events are not insured. These include in particular

• acts of war, civil unrest, acts of terrorism (except within the first 14 days after the outbreak if it is not possible to leave the country)
• Strike or industrial action
• Nuclear energy, ionizing radiation, use of chemical/biological weapons
• addictions
• Mental reactions to war, terror or air disasters (except in the case of proven mental illness)
• Pandemics in general (exception: unexpected and severe Covid-19 illness or death due to Covid-19 is insured)
• Cancellation or service fees of the travel agent that are not expressly included in the insurance (e.g. processing fees)
• Shooting premiums for hunting trips
