Trip cancellation class trip: If you have to cancel your trip for an insured reason before it begins, trip cancellation insurance protects you against the cancellation costs incurred when you cancel your trip. Trip interruption insurance also protects you in the event of premature trip interruption. In addition, insurers generally reimburse the costs of the unused travel service and any additional costs incurred as a result of the early return journey. With travel cancellation insurance for school trips, you can choose between cover with an excess or without an excess. The excess is 20% of the reimbursable costs.

Yes, many school travel insurance policies also cover leisure activities that take place during the school trip, such as sports, excursions or other planned events. Our school group insurance is specially tailored to school trips and youth excursions. It is suitable, for example, for:

• New dentures including crowns, dental cosmetics, orthodontics and implantology

• Acquisition of aids, e.g. glasses, contact lenses, insoles, prostheses, bandages, forefoot relief shoes
• Illnesses/accidents as a result of pandemics or foreseeable war events, attempted suicide, addiction, alcohol, drugs (war events are foreseeable if there is a warning from the Federal Foreign Office before the start of the trip. The terrorist attacks in Paris or Brussels do not count as war events)
• Accommodation due to the need for care or custody
• Cure and sanatorium treatments and rehabilitation measures
• Rescue costs
• Costs for PCR tests or antigen tests in connection with entry and exit
• Costs for the transportation of a Covid contact person (e.g. to a testing station to determine whether they are positive or not)
• Additional costs at the travel destination due to quarantine (longer stay in the accommodation, flight rebooking costs, etc.) because the travel time has to be extended and the infected person or contact person flies back later
• Costs for an adult accompanying the adult accompanying the minor student in the event of repatriation for further treatment in the home country

The insurance does not cover

• Non-promotion of a student if it is not a school or class trip
• Fees incurred in the procurement of foreign currency
• Failure to reach the flight due to a delayed shuttle bus. (Additional costs for rebooking)
• Dangers of war, civil war or warlike events
• Unexpected vaccination intolerance of a relative, if this relative is not also insured.
• Pregnancy: If the mother of the underage insured person is not insured
• Damage to property: If the damage is not significant in relation to the economic situation or assets of the injured party
• Repetition of examinations: If these do not have to be repeated in order to obtain an extension of school attendance/graduation. If the trip was booked after the date of the failed examination. An early examination is also not insured
• If the trip is not taken due to the extension of a stay at a health resort
• If a) the mental illness already existed before the start of the trip (b) the treatment was not carried out by a specialist doctor
• a purely positive corona test (without symptoms)
• Administrative costs such as preparatory meetings held beforehand are not included in the price of the trip

Travel cancellation insurance cannot be canceled or revoked. The reason for this is that the insurance comes into force immediately upon conclusion of the contract. Travel cancellation insurance cover ends with the start of the trip. The insurance cannot be revoked even if it can be proven that the entire trip will not take place. Travel cancellation insurance covers the financial consequences if you are unable to go on a planned trip. The insurance period therefore relates to the period before the trip. Upon receipt of the insurance policy, the insurer's part of the contract (assumption of the risk) is deemed to have been fulfilled immediately. Accordingly, the right of withdrawal does not apply. Not insured:

• Accidents caused by motorized vehicles in which the achievement of maximum speeds is important
• rescue costs (e.g. helicopter transportation to the valley due to altitude sickness)

Travel cancellation insurance: protection against high cancellation costs

Travel cancellation insurance covers cancellation costs incurred if participation becomes impossible - for example due to serious illness, accident, death or pregnancy.
Typical scenarios are also covered for pupils and students, such as retaking failed exams or failing a school or class trip.
If a trip is canceled after it has begun, supplementary trip interruption insurance protects against additional return travel costs and financial losses.

Teacher cancellation insurance: cover for the entire group

If the accompanying teacher is absent at short notice - due to acute illness, accident or pregnancy, for example - an entire school trip can be thrown into disarray. In this case, teacher cancellation insurance covers the costs incurred and protects the school or parents from high financial burdens.

Under the terms of the travel cancellation insurance, the cancellation costs for the student are covered if the student does not pass the final examination or does not reach the class target and is therefore not promoted to the next higher class level.

2. if items are left unattended in the tent or caravan, insurance cover is only provided for damage caused by theft, burglary and willful or malicious acts by third parties (intentional damage to property) if:

for tents:
the damage did not occur during the night. The time between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. is generally regarded as night time. The tent must at least be tied or buttoned up.
In the case of caravans:
it is properly secured with a lock. Furs, jewelry and objects made of precious metals are not insured in unattended tents or caravans

3. cameras, film cameras and portable video systems, each with accessories, watches, optical devices, hunting weapons, radio and television sets, sound recording and reproducing devices, each with accessories, are only insured as long as they:

a) are kept safely in personal custody or
b) are handed over to the supervision of the official campsite for safekeeping or
c) are located in a caravan properly secured by a lock or in a firmly enclosed motor vehicle secured by a lock on an official campsite

4 If no official campsite (see 1) is used, damage caused by theft, burglary, robbery, extortion, malice or malicious intent on the part of third parties (intentional damage to property) is excluded.

5. if the policyholder (i.e. you) breaches an obligation under this contract which he must fulfill before the insured event occurs, the insurer may terminate the contract without notice within one month of becoming aware of the breach of obligation. The insurer has no right of termination if the policyholder proves that the breach of obligation was neither intentional nor due to gross negligence.

1. insurance cover is also provided for bicycles as long as they are not being used as intended.

2 In the event of theft, insurance cover shall only apply if the bicycle was secured at the time of the theft by a cable lock or a lock with a comparable security value, which generally does not include frame locks.

3 The insurer shall only compensate for damage to items loosely attached to the bicycle and regularly used for its intended purpose if they were lost together with the bicycle.

4. the compensation per insured event is limited to EUR 250.00 if the theft is committed during the night. The time between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. is generally regarded as night time.

5 The policyholder or insured person must obtain and retain documents relating to the manufacturer, brand and frame number of the insured bicycles. If the policyholder or insured person breaches this provision, he may only demand compensation if he can prove the characteristics in another way.

If at least one supervisor of the group is 65 years old or older, please register the group under club group trips or exchange measures.
Teacher cancellation insurance is not available for teachers aged 65 and over.

You can take out class trip insurance for as few as 5 participants. All insured persons must not be older than 64 years.
Accompanying persons (e.g. teachers or supervisors) can also be insured without any problems - as long as they are also not older than 64 years.
